Allevia Respite Care Programs

ROSELINK

Roselink is a Home and Community Care (HACC) Program funded to Allevia by the Department of Ageing, Disability, and Home Care (DADHC).

The program provides in-home respite care services to people with a disability who are aged 18 years and over, who live at home, and who reside within the Bankstown Local Government Area (LGA). Priority of access is given to people who have access to minimal other services and for whom in-home respite supports their ability to remain at home and in the care of their family.

Respite Care Packages: Allevia will negotiate the hours of support and other service details with each client. A typical package of respite is approximately 10 hours of service per month, but this is negotiable on a case by case basis. In short, the typical service involves a Respite Care Worker coming to the client’s home, providing the required care and support to the client, allowing their carer/s to have a break.

BANKSLINK

Bankslink is a DADHC-funded respite service, based on a host family care model,  for families of children and young people (aged 0 to 17 years) who have a disability, residing in the Bankstown LGA.

Respite Care Packages: each approved client receives up to 48 hours support each month.

Service Options: Respite care through the Bankslink program may consist of:

  • Community based respite, where the client attends organised community activities and events, with Carer support.
  • Family-based respite, where the client is cared for by a host family in the client’s own home or in the host family’s home.

ARABLINK

Arablink is a respite program very similar to the Bankslink Program detailed above, but is a HACC funded program similar to the Roselink program. The main focus of this program is the support of people with a disability from Arabic communities, who reside in the Bankstown and Auburn LGAs.

The program utilises approved volunteer carers who provide a range of negotiated respite programs for children and young people with a disability and their families. The Arablink Coordinator and all volunteer carers are Arabic and speak the language.

The Coordinator is widely recognised for her services to the Arabic community of NSW. She is an active member of a number of carer groups and service provider forums and networks, and through the initial referral process, under takes a range of client assessments and provides applicants with assistance to access other appropriate services in the community, including case management through appropriate HACC services.

Respite Care Packages: are negotiated with each client/family and are flexible to meet individual needs. The care provided is based on a host family care model.

VIETLINK

Vietlink is a respite program provided by Allevia to people from the Vietnamese community who have a disability and their families. This program does not receive any government funding and is solely run using volunteer carers. The program is coordinated by the Vietlink Coordinator. Services available are detailed below, but also may include simple assistance to identify and access the community services needed by the individual and their family. The Coordinator speaks fluent Vietnamese and has considerable links to the Vietnamese community and local community service networks.

Respite Care Packages: are negotiated with each client/family and are flexible to meet individual needs. The care provided is based on a host family care model.
