“Serving the Community with Open Minds, Open Hearts, and Open Will”

Youth Group

Youth Group is a program run by Allevia for children who:

  • are aged between 6 and 12 years of age,
  • have a disability, and
  • reside in the Bankstown Local Government Area.

The program is a great way for children who have a disability to learn about what is out in the community, especially the fun things to do and see, whilst giving their carers a break. The program focuses on supporting children to integrate into the local community and extend their social networks.

The program is provided by trained staff, who provide supervision, and support to the children.

When: The program operates every Saturday (excluding some public holiday/long weekends) from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

What: Activities organised include ten pin bowling, picnics, barbecues, swimming, going to the movies or theatre, attending various venues such as museums, shows, etc....

Where: All activities start at an agreed meeting place and return again to that meeting place at the end of the day. Families and carers are responsible for getting their child to and from the meeting place.

Fees: Depending on the activity of the day, the children are only required to meet the cost of the activity (e.g. entry fees).

How Do I Get Involved: If your child meets the age, location, and disability criteria listed above, all you need to do is phone the Program Coordinator on (02) 9708 0277 or E-mail to gania@allevia.org.au .

Special thanks goes out to the Bankstown Community Transport Team who provide the required transport to and from events - their patience and assistance is vital in making this service happen.
